The International Web Page Awards

SAN JOSE, CA: Wednesday, April 24, 2002 The winners of the 2001 International Web Page Awards were announced today. Miramax Films received the "Best of Festival" award for their Iron Monkey website. The movies website beat 95 other "Creative Excellence Award" winners.

In all, 20 design firms won 26 "Best of Category" awards at the prestigious independent, international forum for web page designers and graphic artists. The competition judges, all esteemed designers themselves, reviewed more than 500 entries, submitted by advertising agencies, corporations, design studios, independent Webmasters and designers, from 25 different countries.

According to Edwin Fish, Chairman of the International Web Page Awards, "The festival acknowledges the best Web designs created in the World. It allows independent designers to compete against the largest agencies and multi-national corporations. The standards are very high because the designs are judged by those best equipped to judge these pages - web designers themselves."

Three design firms won in two categories, including the German agency Scholz & Volkmer Intermediales Design who won in the product info and service info categories. The other double "Best of Category" winners were Ripple Effects Interactive, in Music and Portals, and Agency.com in Multilingual/Local and Flash Design. USAToday.com, also a big winner last year, was able to pocket four prizes, News, Print/Zines, Entertainment and Travel.

The International Web Page Awards program was established in 1998. It is the first genuine international forum for web designers and graphic artists to acknowledge their peers for work done in the previous year. As a result the award program has already garnered immense respect and acclaim, in the industry, for its authenticity and for the quality of the winning entries.
