NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TAKES TOP PRIZE, THREE BEST OF CATEGORY IN 2002 INTERNATIONAL WEB PAGE AWARDS

SAN JOSE, CA. - June 16 - The media were the big winners in the fifth annual International Web Page Awards as National Geographic Magazine was named Best of Festival for it's year 2002 competition. Established in 1998, the International Web Page Awards is the leading international forum for web designers and graphic artists. This year, it drew more than 525 entries from 25 countries.CA.
In addition to winning the top prize, National Geographic Magazine won Best of Category in the Education, Graphic Qualities and Print/Zines classifications.
USA Today also won three Best of Category awards for Audio/Video Qualities, Finance and Travel classifications.
Other Best of Category media winners were CNN's Newswatch submitted by KMGI Studios, New York City, for News, Rodale, Inc, Emmaus, PA, and Bicycling Magazine in Sports, Wunderman.com Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Post for Reference-Information and Thomas Register in the Reference-Purchase category.
In addition to winning the top prize, National Geographic Magazine won Best of Category in the Education, Graphic Qualities and Print/Zines classifications.
According to Ed Fish, the Web Page awards chairman and founder, This year's entries showed a marked increase in the amount of web sites incorporating Flash Animation, as well as streaming audio and video, the quality of which has improved substantially over past years entries. This was particularly apparent in the entertainment-related categories.
Team One Advertising, Bleu22 Studio, KMGI, Die Firma - Innovative Kommunikation GmbH Multiple Winners
Winning the Best of Entertainment category award was Team One Advertising, El Segundo, CA, for Minority Report. Team One and Minority Report also took top honors in the Best of Flash Design Attributes category.
Bleu22 Studios, Inc, Culver City, CA, won two Best of Category awards in the Best of Film and Best of Games categories.
New York's KMGI Studio, which won for its work on CNN's Newswatch also took top honors in the Best of Health classification for its Aventis web site. IconNicholson, also of New York City, and The Songwriters Hall of Fame won in the Best of Community/Culture classification. BMG, New York, and its Elvisnumberones.com Web site took the Best of Music award.
Individual Winners Show Geographic Diversity
New York, Florida, New Jersey, California, Seoul, South Korea, and Tokyo, Japan, web site designers, graphic artists and design firms won individual Best Of Category Awards.
New York City's Glow Interactive took top honors in the Best of Product-Purchase classification. Brooklyn's Roy Hsu won the Best of Personal Web Site classification.
Site Dynamics, Clearwater, FL, took top honors in the Best of Arts for its Caroline York web site, while INTERACT Multimedia, Inc, Monmouth Junction, NJ, won in the Best of Service - Information category.
Clear Ink, Berkeley, CA, won in the Best of Product-Information category. The Best of Corporate category award was won by the Samsung Corporation and Cheil Communications, Seoul, Korea. The Lipton Company and Thompson Connect Tokyo won in the Best of Lifestyle/Recreation category.
